Feeling crafty this Christmas? You will have a blast making these Hershey’s Kisses Christmas trees!

It’s the perfect Christmas present for someone with a sweet tooth and they’ll be so impressed you made this for them.

Not only do they make awesome gifts, you can also use them as a creative Christmas centerpiece or decorations around your home.

This is a fun Christmas craft project for kids that you guys can do together. (Depending on their age of course.)

Below you’ll find out how to make this DIY project plus tons of helpful tips.

Hershey’s Kisses Christmas Tree Supplies

  • Styrofoam cone (7 inches)
  • Foil
  • 75-100 Hershey’s Kisses or Hershey’s Hugs
  • Hot glue gun
  • Bow for the top (optional)
  • Cellophane wrap (optional)

I recommend a low temperature hot glue gun just to make sure it won’t melt the chocolate.

But if you only have a regular hot glue gun, that should be fine too, just make sure you only use a tiny dab of hot glue.

How To Make A Hershey’s Kisses Christmas Tree (Step By Step)

Step 1

Place your styrofoam cone on a flat surface.

Remove the plastic on the styrofoam cone. Then, wrap a couple of pieces of foil around the cone making sure it is completely covered.

That way you have some gaps between the Hershey’s kisses, the foil will show through, not the white styrofoam.

Step 2

Start layering kisses on your cone. Put a dab of hot glue on a Hershey’s kiss and press it down onto the cone.

Hold the Hershey’s kiss down for a couple seconds making sure it is securely attatched to the cone.

It’s better to glue each Hershey’s Kisses as you go because if you put glue on multiple kisses at once, the glue will dry before you can stick them on the cone.

Step 3

Glue, stick on the cone, repeat…

You can stack them all facing the same way, or you can layer them sideways.

As you can see below I opted to layer them sideways in different directions.

There is no right or wrong way to place them. If you want a more uniform look you could glue the bottom of the Hershey’s Kisses to the cone so they all line up.

Just know if you do this, a little bit of the cone will show, which isn’t a bad thing, it will just be a different look.

Whichever way you choose, your tree will come out really cool.

Step 4

Once you have reached the top,  you can glue one more kiss to the top or you can add a star or bow to the top.

This is also optional but if you are giving it as a gift, you could wrap it in cellophane and tie it off with a bow.

DIY Hershey’s Kiss Christmas Tree Tips

This is a pretty straight forward DIY project but I still wanted to give you some helpful tips.

(By the way if you have any questions, be sure to ask them in the comments below.)

Pick a color scheme.

As you can see I went with silver. When I made this the Christmas Hershey’s Kisses weren’t available yet, so I went with their signature silver wrapper ones that they have year around.

If you use the holiday kisses, they come in red, green and silver.

You could either do a tree with a mix of all three colors or pick out a certain color and do the tree all in the same color.

(If you did this you would have to probably buy multiple bags of holidayHershey’s Kisses.)

Also, I have seen bags in bulk that are all one color. I’ve only seen them online though but never in stores.

If you’ve seen them in stores, comment below and tell me which ones!

Other Ways Of Attaching The Hershey’s Kisses

Toothpicks & Why Not To Use Them

I’ve seen people make Hershey’s Kisses trees where they attach the kisses with toothpicks.

While this may work, if you are gifting these to kids (or adults for that matter), they may poke themselves on accident with the toothpicks.

Or accidently eat a piece of toothpick, eek!

For that reason, I would avoid attaching them this way.

Double Sided Tape

Another option is you could stick them on with double sided tape. This might be a good option if you are making this project with really young kids and don’t want them around a hot glue for obvious reasons.

I have seen people using double sided tape but I can’t speak to how well it sticks just because I’ve never used it for this project myself.

If you opt to use double sided tape you might want to play around with the what you cover the cone with. I’m not sure how well double sided tape would stick to foil or styrofoam.

You may want to wrap the cone in paper first to help it stick. Again, this is just a guess, maybe it would stick to the cone just fine without covering it with anything.

Be sure to comment below if you made your tree this way.

Kiss Christmas Tree – Easy Christmas Gift Idea!

These make the perfect food gift for chocolate lovers! You could even gift it with other things, like a bottle of wine, cozy socks, gift cards, etc.

Also if you’re looking for a cheap and small gift for kids, they’d be thrilled to receive this!

For gifting you could either give as is or wrap the tree in cellophane and tie off with a bow.

What To Use Your Hershey Kisses Christmas Tree Craft For (Besides Gifts)

This fun Christmas craft can be used for multiple things.

So I may be bias because this is a gift site (lol), so of course this makes an awesome gift but I also wanted to share with you how versitile this project is.

For Christmas Centerpieces

I’m loving the idea of using these as a cute Christmas centerpiece. You could use just one tree or make multiple trees for more of a statement.

For Holiday Decorations

Beyond using them for holiday centerpieces, these would work for using as holiday decor around your home.

Again, use just one tree or make multiples for a more dramatic effect.

This year I might set some up on my kitchen counter or on my fireplace mantle with some festive greenery.

For Christmas Party, Baby Shower, and Wedding Shower Favors

Wouldn’t these make such adorable party favors? If you decide to make these for party favors I would use smaller styrofoam cones to save time.

For a Fun Kids Craft Activity You Can Do Together

Lastly, this is a fun holiday craft idea to do with your kids. Little ones will love making this and eating all the Hershey’s kisses as well!
