Christmas Baking Themed Gift Basket From The Dollar Tree
Are you a last minute gifter? It all happens to us at times. This baking themed gift basket is not only super simple to make, it’s incredibly cheap as well.
I’m talking $10 Dollar Tree cheap!
This gift basket with baking items is filled with holiday cookie cutters, sugar cookie mix, sprinkles, spatula and more.
There is also a cute Christmas tea towel in there too, Dollar Store for the win!
Below you’ll find a ton of helpful tips and ideas that are worth reading but if you want you can go straight to the directions.

- Gift basket or box
- Ribbon or other toppers to decorate the basket (optional)
- Cookie or cake mix
- Holiday cookie cutters
- Spatula
- Cupcake liners
- Clear plastic ornament
- Christmas sprinkles (2 types)
- Tea towel
All items were purchased at the Dollar Tree and the entire basket cost about $10 to make.
If you wanted to save a little more money and have the gift basket cost around $7, you could leave out the cupcake liners and only do one type of sprinkles instead of two.
Also, instead of using the clear ornament to hold the sprinkles, you could just put the sprinkles in the basket as is.
DIY Dollar Tree Baking Gift Basket Tips
Theme
When looking for items to put in your gift basket, you might want to stick to one baking theme.
Centering your basket around just cookies for example is going to take the guesswork out of what to put in your basket.
Below are some baking theme ideas:
- Cookies
- Cakes
- Cupcakes
- Cake pops
- Cookies for Santa (maybe cookies, a cookie plate and Santa related items)
- Chocolate Lovers (all items relate to baking with chocolate)
One mistake I made was the entire basket I’m sharing has more of a cookie theme but then there are some random cupcake liners in there.
If I was making it over again I would leave out the cupcake liners and add something else that had to do with baking cookies.
Just a suggestion though, you can always mix all the types of baking stuff up too!
Wrapping
Since my basket was already festive, I chose not to decorate the basket. You can of course add festive ribbon or other cute decorations.
It would be cute to tie some cookie cutters to the handles of the gift basket.
Clear Sprinkle Ornaments
Included in this basket is an adorable clear ornament layered with different types of sprinkles.
When looking for ornaments, be sure to find plastic ones as well as one’s where you are able to take the top off so you can fill them with sprinkles.
Buy a few different types of sprinkles and make a layer of all the different types of sprinkles.
Another option is just putting sprinkles in their original packaging in the basket, this will save you time.
Baking Themed Christmas Gift Basket
Materials
- 1 Basket
- Ribbon or other toppers to decorate the basket (optional)
- 4-5 pieces Tissue paper or regular paper
- 1 package Cookie or cake mix
- 1-3 Holiday cookie cutters
- 1 Spatula or other baking utensils
- 1 package Cupcake liners
- 2 packages Christmas sprinkles
- 1 Holiday tea towel
- 1 Plastic ornament with removable top
Instructions
- Remove price tag from your basket and baking items. Crinkle up some tissue paper or regular paper and make layer at the bottom of the basket. If your basket is not the deep, you won't need the tissue paper. Stuffing the bottom of the basket on a deeper basket helps prop the items in the basket up making them easier to see.
Sprinkle Ornament
- Wash out plastic ornament and remove top. Pour one type of sprinkles into the ornament. It's up to you how tall you want your layer of sprinkles
- Then, add your second layer of different sprinkles.
- Repeat until the ornament is filled with sprinkles.
Assembling Your Basket
- Place the tall items in the back of the basket. Then, place the shorter items in the front.
- If any items need to be propped up a little more you can put another piece of crinkled tissue paper under them.
- Finish it off with a bow of holiday topper. (optional)
Notes
- You can really customize this baking gift basket idea. See the section below for more ideas for what you can put in your basket.
